Congressional stock trading data for your AI agent.

Capitol Ledger’s congressional stock trading API turns official U.S. House disclosures into structured research data, with source links and dates your agent can explain. Search disclosed purchases and sales, inspect saved synthetic portfolio snapshots, and retrieve changes over a report period.

Request pilot access

We’re inviting builders to test the API before opening paid subscriptions. Approved pilots get 14 days of free access and 1000 authenticated requests per UTC day, shared across their keys. No payment details, automatic charge, or automatic paid conversion.

Tell us what you’re building and which data would help. We review each request before providing a key; submitting this form does not grant access or subscribe you to the newsletter.

We use these details to review your request and contact you about the pilot. Privacy details. Prefer email? Contact us.

How do I connect an approved agent?

Once approved, send your key in the Authorization header. Never put it in a URL, shared prompt, or public repository.

curl 'https://capitol-ledger.com/api/v1/disclosures?ticker=NVDA&limit=10' \
  -H "Authorization: Bearer $CAPITOL_LEDGER_API_KEY"

Available endpoints: GET /api/v1/disclosures, GET /api/v1/portfolio, GET /api/v1/changes, and GET /api/v1/account. Rotate a key with POST /api/v1/keys/rotate; this revokes the old key immediately.

Disclosure searches default to the previous 30 days. Use timezone-aware available_after and as_of timestamps, with limit (1–100) and offset for paging. Reuse the returned as_of on every page. Portfolio and changes accept report_id and as_of.

Is there a congressional trading MCP server?

Yes: the local MCP adapter exposes three read-only research tools. Install the published PyPI package using Python 3.12 or later. Inspect the public source repository or download the standalone source.

pip install capitol-ledger-mcp

Run capitol-ledger-mcp as a local stdio server. It connects to the hosted API using credentials from its environment:

{
  "mcpServers": {
    "capitol-ledger": {
      "command": "capitol-ledger-mcp",
      "env": {
        "CAPITOL_LEDGER_API_URL": "https://capitol-ledger.com",
        "CAPITOL_LEDGER_API_KEY": "YOUR_API_KEY"
      }
    }
  }
}

Replace YOUR_API_KEY locally. This is a local MCP adapter, published in the official MCP Registry. A hosted MCP endpoint is not available.

What does the congressional disclosure data cover?

Coverage is House disclosures; Senate data is excluded from this API. A filing can describe a transaction made weeks earlier. Every disclosure separates the transaction date, public filing availability, and when we collected it. Historical disclosure queries exclude rows collected after your requested instant.

Portfolio endpoints expose the synthetic disclosure ledger, valued using the midpoint of disclosed ranges. They do not represent actual member holdings or the executable strategy portfolio. Reports may be daily, weekly, monthly, or ad hoc; check the returned period and report ID. Coverage warnings and timestamps travel with the response. If no report is available, the API returns a clear error.

This service provides research data, not investment advice. Read the methodology and verify material findings against the source filings.

Common questions about agent access

Is the API real time?

No. It serves delayed House transaction disclosures and saved reports. The transaction date, public filing availability, and collection time are separate fields. Check response freshness and coverage warnings.

How much does the pilot cost?

The invited 14-day pilot is free after approval. No card is required and it does not convert automatically. Paid pricing has not been announced.

Can I check my usage?

Approved agents can call GET /api/v1/account to see usage, the daily request limit, and access expiry. Usage resets at UTC midnight.

Can agents trade or receive push alerts?

No. The API and MCP tools provide research data only. Broker execution and push subscriptions are unavailable.

Can I redistribute the data?

Pilot access is for your own research and internal agent workflows. Contact us about serving downstream users or redistribution.
